Meet Telsa Leon - in action! She's my very own original character that I have been developing for quite some time. I figured she deserved to have some sort of polished action pose, and what better way than to make that happen through Illustrator!

As for the background, I've found a graphic novel cover that best aligns with the idea I'm going for.

In addition, I'm also looking for a background that adds a bit of dimension and a hint of threat. Such as what the artist has done with the "Prince of Persia" graphic novel cover.

These are a few "Silly-Bands" I've created in relation to my character design (in progress). Even though I struggled a bit with creating the curved and straight lines, I feel that I'm gradually improving my Illustrator skills!

Illustrator's been giving me a massive headache, so I decided to take a break and work on my graphic novel illustrations on Photoshop! This is what I've come up with so far today... I'm a very, very slow artist, so this might take me a few days to finish.

These two are my main characters, Telsa and Alec (Completely original).

Character development and design is definitely my forte! I'm extremely excited to begin this process, even though I'll be using Illustrator - the one program I hoped to avoid. But this will be a useful learning experience.

Meet Telsa Leon, my own original character that I have been developing through both pen work and Photoshop. Luckily for me, my line-art style looks very similar to a look you would achieve through the use of Illustrator, so in the end I think it'll turn out very nicely. I'm also hoping to add more to the image, such as a vivid, narrative background.

Tristan Reidford created a really inventive poster design that follows along the same idea as mine - I really admire the detail, shape, and colors he created in order to make this a very solid and interesting piece.

This character design very closely resembles the idea I have for my own. I love the line work that the artist created, but I'm hoping to change up the style with my own.

So I've discovered this interesting artist on the site: ArtistADay

Raquel Aparicio, a 24 year-old illustrator from Madrid, Spain, spent about a year studying art (specifically illustration). She has taught part-time at Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid and has illustrated for numerous magazines.

Her work is not only stunning, but visually complex and full of narrative possibilities - Something I admire and hope to accomplish through my own work.
Hello all, and welcome to my very first blog - I'm pretty much handicapped at this, so wish me luck at figuring out all the settings and whatnot's that come with this website. Nonetheless, allow me to introduce myself...

My name is Rachel Jordan, and yes, I have a Green Iguana. HER name is Arrowhead (My family adopted her in Lake Arrowhead). I am twenty-three years old, live in southern California, and have a passion for art and adventure.

I've decided to take this Digital Arts course in hopes that I might improve both my Illustrator and Photoshop skills (I've got Photoshop down for the most part, but Illustrator on the other hand seems like a scary and complicated foreign language. YIKES!). Anyway, wish me luck and I look forward to getting to know many of you on this blogging community :]
